Cruise Holidays Set To Increase In Popularity

The past year has already been hugely successful for the cruise industry and the trend looks set to continue into 2009.
According to Cruise Critic, approximately 1.55 million Britons will take a cruise holiday this year, representing a 14 per cent increase on 2007.
Furthermore, despite the current economic doom and gloom, cruise holidays look set to increase in popularity as holidaymakers begin to realise that all-inclusive cruise breaks offer "terrific value-for-money".
Cruise Critic is also predicting a rise in the number of travellers opting for mini-cruises, with short breaks becoming more and more popular with those celebrating special occasions.
An increase in the cost of air travel is also likely to result in more cruise holidays starting and ending in the UK.
In related news, a recent survey by TripAdvisor revealed that a "boom" in autumn travel may be on the cards, as holidaymakers book last-minute packages to warmer climes.
A recent survey carried out by the site revealed that 18 per cent of people are planning to take an autumn holiday this year.
